| The
Odeon of Pericles
- Exterior
The Odeon of Pericles was constructed in the mid 5th century in Athens. It stood on the southern slope of the Acropolis, right next to the Theatre of Dionysus. Scholars think it was used for all sorts of dramatic performances and recitations. The building had an unusual roof - described as "tent-like" - which probably had a large multi-sided window in the middle, to allow as much light as possible into the theatre. |
